He taught school for 16 years, spending his summers working at the Co-op store, during the war and in the 50’s. He moved the family to Dieppe to accept a position with Co-op Farm Services in 1956 from where his career progressed, 6 years later

, to a top executive position with Maritime Co-op Services (now Co-op Atlantic). He had a very strong belief in Co-operatives throughout his career and in later years as well.
