Note		Après avoir déménagé à Orono et Bangor, dans le Maine, il a fréquenté la John Bapst Memorial High School, où au cours de sa dernière année, il a été capitaine de l'équipe de football, président du conseil étudiant, président du J.B. Club et trésorier de la classe. Après avoir obtenu son diplôme en 1946, il s'est enrôlé dans le Corps des Marines des États-Unis où il a servi comme instructeur de transport automobile. Il a volé 13 ans pour le Central Maine Flying Service à Old Town, dans le Maine, et a terminé sa carrière de pilote de 50 ans en tant que pilote en chef pour la Georgia Pacific Paper Company à Millinocket, gagnant ainsi son titre de « Français volant ». En plus de son service militaire et de sa carrière de pilote, Dick était également un calleur de danse carrée et un charpentier, électricien et plombier autodidacte connu de tous pour son ingéniosité. L'une de ses réalisations dont il est le plus fier a été la rénovation du camp familial du lac Ambajejus. Club, and class treasurer. Upon graduation in 1946, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps where he served as a motor transport instructor. He flew 13 years for Central Maine Flying Service in Old Town, Maine, and finished his 50-year flying career as the Chief Pilot for Georgia Pacific Paper Company in Millinocket, earning his title as the "Flying Frenchman." In addition to his military service and career as a pilot, Dick was also a square dance caller and a self-taught carpenter, electrician, and plumber known by all for his ingenuity. One of his proudest achievements was the refurbishing of the family camp at Ambajejus Lake.
