Note Urgel faisait partie de la « plus grande génération » et s’est enrôlé dans la marine américaine pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale à l’âge de 18 ans et a servi de 1944 à 1946 en tant que matelot de première classe.
Il s'est ensuite enrôlé comme Sargent dans la guerre de Corée dans la 7e Marines, Fox Company de 1950 à 1953.
Après la guerre, en 1956, Urgel rejoint le service d'incendie de Hartford en tant que chauffeur jusqu'en 1986, prenant sa retraite après 30 ans de service public.

Urgel was part of the ‘greatest generation” and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during World War II at age 18 and served from 1944 through 1946 as a Seaman First Class.
He then enlisted as a Sargent in the Korean War in the 7th Marines, Fox Company from 1950 -1953.
After the war, in 1956, Urgel joined the Hartford Fire Department as a driver until 1986, retiring after 30 years of public service.
