Val moved to Longlac in 1947.

He worked for Kimberly Clark in Longlac until retirement in 1984. He served with the Longlac Volunteer Fire Department for 32 years, retiring as Deputy Chief until 1987. He served on the Longlac Town Council, was Chairman of the Board at St. Joh

n’s in the Wilderness Interdenominational Church and Chairman of the Longlac Seniors for many years.

Val and Shirley enjoyed 10 happy winters in sunny Florida and many wonderful summers at the cottage on Pamela Lake. Val was an avid fisherman and hunter and in the winter enjoyed curling.
