As Don grew, he became involved with the Scouts of Canada; he played drums and symbols in the Assumption Band and was a very active member of the jazz world. He began his career in radio in Moncton and in 1962 he left Moncton for Eastern Ontario

. He worked at CKWS Radio in Kingston and moved to Ottawa to join CFRA/CFMO. He retired in 1991 and after retirement he joined he Corps of Commissionaires. He retired from the Corps in 2009.
