He was employed at Steeves Motors and MacDonald Pontiac Buick as a spray painter before his retirement. Edward was an avid sportsman, enjoying especially hunting and fishing.

In his youth, he played hockey with Moncton Senior Hawks, baseball with Lewisville Keefe Cubs 1951-1955, and Memramcook Rovers 1961-1964.

Edward was also inducted in the NB Hall of Fame, and the Moncton Wall of Fame in 1989.
