Stefan worked as a security officer with Edinburgh Risk Inc., a British security firm.

He began an active military career with the 84th Independent Field Battery militia unit in Yarmouth.

From there, at 18, he served with the Second Princess Patricia Light Infantry Division of the Canadian Armed Forces as a United Nations peacekeeper in Croatia.

He then joined the First Royal Anglian Infantry Division of the British Army, with which he served two tours in Northern Ireland and one in Afghanistan.

It was after his service with the British Army that he accepted a position with Edinburgh Risk, with which he served in Afghanistan and Iraq.

He loved the military and excelled at what he did.

He received several awards and medals throughout his career;

-- The Canadian Peace Keeping Medal,

-- The Yugoslavia Medal and The Commander-in-Chief Unit Commendation including the best recruit (1996) in his British Army division,

-- The Commanding Officers Commendation & Recognition of Outstanding Performance, Certificate of Military Achievement as Artillery Communicator,

-- Military Training and Artilleryman.
